What if I told you that permissioned smart contracts are possible on Ethereum?
Hyperledger Burrow is a blockchain client with a permissioned smart contract interpreter capable of executing Ethereum EVM smart contract code.
So what does that mean for you?
Burrow allows us to run Ethereum smart contracts on Hyperledger Fabric!
“Burrow was built to be a lightweight, efficient, and fast permissioned smart contract machine. By leveraging the hardened and speedy Tendermint protocol for consensus alongside Burrow’s Apache licensed Ethereum Virtual Machine, users have access to one of the fastest codebases available.” -Hyperledger Burrow maintainer, Silas Davis
But how do we actually USE this?
A collaboration effort between the Hyperledger Burrow and Hyperledger Sawtooth teams has yielded an amazing piece of technology know as Seth. Seth stands for Sawtooth Ethereum, and with this the power of private or permissioned smart contracts has come to Ethereum! This allows Ethereum ĐApps to achieve a level of compliance not possible on a public blockchain (GDPR issues anyone?). But let’s be clear: Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum are complementary, not competitive to each other…
“Any positioning of the Hyperledger and Ethereum communities as competitive is incorrect.” -Hyperledger Project Executive Director Brian Behlendorf
With the rapid adoption of Hyperledger in the blockchain space, Ethereum cross collaboration is definitely something to be looking for in the future (Hi CorCom.io!)
Ask us if we can help with your existing ĐApp, or let’s build something from scratch!
